My Picks Of The Year

As I go back through 2015, I picked a few of my favorites.

Here’s my picks in tv, music and movies for the year:

TV

FX’s Bastard Executioner from Kurt Sutter was an interesting story and although it only went for one year, I did enjoy it. I’m more of a fan of Sutter’s other work…Sons of Anarchy and can’t wait to see what’s ahead with those SOA projects.

AMC’s The Walking Dead is still one that keeps me glued. Now, Fear The Walking Dead, not so much.

The animated BoJack Horseman on Netflix is a trip.

MUSIC

The Shelters EP. They’re my #1 pick in music for the year. EXCELLENT stuff. They recently signed with Warner Bros.

Zella Day’s Kicker. I’ve talked about Zella from the very beginning a long time ago. Zella has a star quality and the songs are great.

Wilco’s Star Wars.

Leon Bridges Coming Home is tremendous. I’ve always been a Sam Cooke fan and this kid has a serious gift. He’s got that vibe.

Andra Day’s Cheers To The Fall. Much like Leon, Andra has that throwback thing going on and damn can she sing.

Adele’s 25.

Blitzen Trapper’s All Across This Land has become my favorite album of theirs.

Courtney Barnett’s Sometimes I Sit And Think And Sometimes I Just Sit. Amazing songwriter. I listen to this album a lot.

Kagoule’s Urth is a combo of many things and they rock.

Alabama Shakes Sound & Color.

New Order’s Music Complete.

James And The Drifters is a local Indiana band and they’re really talented songwriters and performers. I could see really great things happening for them on a bigger scale.

I have many others, but these are the main ones.

MOVIES

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is my #1  pick in movies. Great film. In the Star Wars universe, it ranks high to me, but nothing tops Empire Strikes Back.

Jurassic World starring Chris Pratt was another favorite of mine this year. It was better than the first Jurassic Park flick in my opinion.

Creed was the best Rocky film since the first. Micheal P. Jordan was excellent. Sly should be proud of the work in this film.

I have many others, but these are the main ones.
